Howard County Issues a Heat Advisory in Response to High Temperatures
In response to the heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service, Dr. Maura J. Rossman, Howard County Health Officer, has issued a public advisory for Howard County due to continuing high temperatures. The advisory has been issued for Thursday, August 4 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with high temperatures expected to be in the mid-90s.
Guilford Elevated Water Tank Construction to Begin
A Howard County project to construct a 2.5-million-gallon elevated water storage tank near 8490 Chase Ridge Road in Jessup, is scheduled to begin on or about Monday, August 8th. The project is not expected to impact the flow of traffic in the area; however, signs will be posted to inform residents of the project. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-July 2024.

Howard County Department of Public Works’ Stormwater Management Division will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, September 12th to present plans to repair an existing pond located near 7680 Woodpark Lane in Columbia.

In response to high temperatures forecast by the National Weather Service, Dr. Kelly Russo, Howard County Health Department Medical Director, has issued a heat alert for Howard County. The alert has been issued for Tuesday, September 5 and Wednesday September 6.

Howard County to Host Tire Recycling Event at Alpha Ridge Landfill
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced the Bureau of Environmental Services will hold a tire drop-off recycling event at the Alpha Ridge Landfill from Saturday, September 9 through Saturday, September 16. Collections will take place 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. each day. Howard County residents may dispose of scrap tires free of charge.
