Howard County Government offices and more will be closed in observance of the Indigenous Peoples’ Day holiday on Monday, October 14th. There will be regular Monday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim and food scrap collection and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be open.

Historic Ellicott City Early Morning Road Closure for Return of Firehouse Museum Cupola and Bell
So crews can safely return the cupola and bell to the top of the Department of Recreation & Parks’ Firehouse Museum, located at 3829 Church Road in Ellicott City, Church Road between Emory Street and Main Street will be closed in both directions between the hours of 12:00 to 4:00 a.m., Friday, October 18th. Main Street between Old Columbia Pike and Court Avenue will also be closed for brief periods during this time to allow for crane operations, and parking will be restricted in the area.

The County's Department of Public Works will hold a community outreach meeting on Tuesday, October 29th, to present traffic calming plans for Furnace Avenue and Hanover Road. The project will implement strategies available in the County’s recently updated Howard County Neighborhood Traffic Calming Policy, to combat excessive vehicular speeds along these two roadways.
