Howard County Government Closings for Labor Day Holiday on September 2nd
Howard County Government offices, courts, animal shelter, 50+ centers and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 2nd. As there will be no Monday curbside trash, recycling, yard trim or food scrap collection on Labor Day, the County’s holiday "slide” schedule will be in effect for the remainder of the week.

Howard County Issues a Heat Alert in Response to High Temperatures
In response to high temperatures forecast by the National Weather Service, the Howard County Health Department has issued a heat alert for Howard County. The alert has been issued for Wednesday, August 28 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with high temperatures expected to be in the mid-to-high 90s.

A Howard County construction project to repair and improve a stormwater management pond south of 8360 Montgomery Run Road in Ellicott City, has begun. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late August 2025.
